Xfinity Internet Availability
Making internet accessible in 41 states, Xfinity cable covers approximately 122.4 million people in the country. This coast-to-coast accessibility makes Xfinity the largest residential cable provider in the U.S. Whether you live in Washington or Florida, it’s likely Xfinity cable covers your household.
While Xfinity's fiber network is much smaller than its cable offerings, Xfinity fiber internet is growing every day. Thanks to fiber, Xfinity download speeds top out at a blazing 10 Gbps. At that rate, the sky’s pretty much the limit. Though we don’t recommend you throw your devices in the air, because, you know, gravity. Whether it's a cable or a fiber plan, Xfinity has a lot to offer customers across the U.S.
Xfinity Internet Connections
Connection type | Transmission method | Price (starting at) | Download speeds |

Fiber | Pulses of light beam data through optical fiber cables | $309.95 per month | Up to 10 Gbps |

Xfinity Internet Contracts and Data Caps
While most contracts like leases and employment agreements are non-negotiable, with Xfinity, you have options (unlike when you agree to do the dishes if your spouse cooks dinner). Xfinity allows you to purchase its services without signing a long-term contract, which is a helpful option if you know you are going to relocate in the near future. However, if you plan on staying in the same place for one to two years, you could save some dough by signing a contract.
Signing a one-year contract with Xfinity can save you up to $10 each month, while you can pocket up to $20 each month in savings with a two-year contract. That’s between $120 and $240 in savings a year!
Throw some more confetti, and whisper sweet nothings to your bank account! Heck, with all of that extra money, you can even purchase a new vacuum cleaner to suck up all this celebratory confetti. But, before you celebrate, consider these benefits and drawbacks of signing a contract with Xfinity:

Why you might not want to sign a contract with Xfinity internet:
Despite the perks that come with a contract agreement, pledging yourself to Xfinity for an extended period comes with some risks. Consider these disadvantages to signing a contract with Xfinity before you pull out your pen:

Unfortunately, contracts aren’t the only limiting factor to Xfinity internet. Much like a governor capping out the top speed on your Honda Civic, all Xfinity plans have a 1.2 Terabyte (TB) data cap. If you download or upload more than that in a month, Xfinity will automatically add data blocks of 50 GB for $10 each to your plan, up to $100 per month. Again, candy is not included.
Insider’s Tip: Xfinity's Gateway is no ordinary modem. For $14 per month, you'll get no-cost equipment upgrades, easy Wi-Fi management and parental controls, and best yet — advanced security and device protection against online threats. |
Truthfully, though, it’s pretty hard to exceed 1.2 TB of data. When is the last time you even mentioned using a terabyte of storage? With 1.2 TB, you could spend over 3,500 hours on Google Meet or stream over 21,600 hours of music a month. Even if you streamed Industry Baby all day, every day for the entire month, you wouldn’t even come close to this limit. But, hey, we won’t stand in your way if you try (and neither will Xfinity’s data cap).
Xfinity Internet Data Caps
Connection type | Data cap | Data cap equivalence |
---|---|---|
Fiber | 1.2 TB | Unlimited access |
Cable | 1.2 TB | Unlimited access |
Xfinity Internet Customer Service
Have you ever talked to a customer service representative and wondered how weird it would be to invite him to your brother’s wedding? Well, you might not necessarily experience that with Xfinity customer service, but it will make you feel valued. Despite multiple states entering into settlement agreements with Comcast in the last five years, Xfinity scores pretty highly on various customer satisfaction ranking services:
Xfinity Internet Customer Service Ratings
Better Business Bureau (BBB) | American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) | J.D. Power East | J.D. Power South |
---|---|---|---|
A+ | No. 5 (68/100) | No. 2 (706/1,000) | No. 2 (736/1,000) |
Most of the complaints we found against Xfinity have to do with hidden fees, rate changes, and contracts. While these issues are relatively common for internet providers, we think you can avoid most of these qualms by following our advice on Xfinity.
One thing we didn’t love with Xfinity is that it is difficult to access an agent over the phone unless you’re an existing customer. That said, Xfinity has a robust online presence, and signing up on Xfinity's website is simple. From support articles to live chat and even social media outlets, Xfinity has several customer service outlets to address your technical or billing questions quickly.
The Value of Xfinity Internet

We’ve reviewed a lot of internet providers over the years, and we can say that Xfinity brings the whole package to the table with its selection of internet plans, stellar customer service, super-fast internet speeds, and surprisingly cheap internet bundles. While Xfinity may have a couple of additional fees and some contract stipulations for promotions, in the end, it’s all worth it. No matter what you love to do online, we think Xfinity is a great choice for any household.
